5 year old master Choton had lost all hope in life as he had been suffering from hernia since infancy. A poor fisherman’s son from Chittagong, Bangladesh had very little hope to get this treated. Touching Souls International a New York based non-profit organization came to his rescue and Choton was operated on February 2011 free of cost to rid him of the ailment and letting him lead healthy life. This surgery was conducted by Touching Souls International in collaboration with Nurture General Hospital, Chittagong.
Choton had been suffering from direct inguinal hernia which is a protrusion of abdominal-cavity contents through the inguinal canal. In this the epigastric vessels when abdominal contents herniate through the superficial inguinal ring. If not treated on time this could have diminished the blood flow to the trapped portion of the intestine and threatened the young boy’s life. But the timely surgery by the charity organization has given a new lease of life to the boy.
Choton’s parents are elated and his mother can’t stop thanking Touching Souls Internationals team which has given new hope to the family. This Herniotomy with Herniorrhaphy surgery was conducted by Dr. Panna Lal Shah and anesthetists Dr. S.Dhar with no post-operative complications. The family who resides in the South Kattali had almost given up the hope of seeing their child fit and healthy again owing to their poverty and the absence of proper medical health care facilities in the backward areas.
This surgery is a part of Touching Souls International’s constant effort to provide medical help and aid to the poor and the underprivileged people of Bangladesh. The non-profit organization provides 12 free surgical operations per month on Hydrosil, Hernia, Piles, Tumor, Clubfoot and Hysterectomy at Nurture General Hospital. It bears all the expenses of hiring surgeons and anesthetists for the surgery and Nature hospital supports with the Operation Theater, nurses and paramedics and provides free beds to the patients.
These surgeries are given to the patients, who cannot otherwise afford to have one. Most patients like Choton get back to their normal life after getting this most needed surgery free of cost.
